renameafile is built to be private by default. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the site at renameafile.com.

Your files are never uploaded

The renamer runs entirely in your web browser. When you choose a file, it is read and renamed on your own device, and the renamed copy is saved straight to your downloads. Your files are never sent to us or to any server, we never see them, and we never store them.

Information we collect

You do not need an account to use renameafile, and we do not ask you for personal information such as your name or email to rename files. We may collect anonymous, aggregate statistics (for example, how many people visit a page) to understand usage and improve the site. This data is not used to identify you.

Theme preference

If you switch between light and dark mode, we save that single preference in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. This value stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Third-party services

renameafile is a static site and does not embed third-party content that tracks you. We do not load external fonts, advertising, or analytics scripts. The site uses the standard fonts already installed on your device, so your browser is not making background requests to other companies as you use it.

Children's privacy

renameafile is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
